Obituary for Erich S. Groot
Erich S. Groot, 72, of Hamburg, passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 in Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Kathleen B. Riegel.
Born in Oneida, New York, he was the son of the late Svend and Virginia M. (Lessels) Groot. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Erich worked as a truck driver for Mid-Atlantic Canners, Hamburg.
Erich was a free spirit and an example to not take life too seriously all the time. To take time to joke, have fun with friends and family, and to, above all, LOVE. That being said, we feel he has led a very successful life.
Surviving in addition to his wife Kathy are two daughters: Nichole E.L. (Groot), wife of Tony Miller, Perry Twp.; and Lacy A. (Riegel), wife of Kyle Mohn, Fleetwood; and two grandchildren: Hadley Mohn and Aiden Clemens.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the convenience of the immediate family as per Erich's wishes. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Luke's Cancer Center, 1600 St. Luke's Blvd., Easton, PA 18045, in memory of Erich S. Groot.
