Michelle Rissmiller (Eckenroth)
Michelle M. (Eckenroth) Rissmiller, 55, of Muhlenberg Township, died Wednesday, June 14, 2017, in Temple University Hospital, Philadelphia, PA.

She was the wife of Jack R. Rissmiller, Jr. They were married January 5, 1985 and celebrated 32 years of marriage. Born in Reading and a graduate of Reading High School, Class of 1980, she was a daughter of the late Brian A. and Marilyn R. (Dease) Eckenroth.

Michelle worked at Aetna, Inc., in Reading and later in Allentown, for 30 years before her retirement earlier this year. She was a passionate reader and coffee drinker who enjoyed gardening, traveling and spending time with family.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two daughters, Stephanie Mabry of Chico, CA, and Jacqueline Rissmiller of Chico, CA.

She is survived by three sisters: Kathy Eckenroth and her spouse Joyce of Saugerties, NY; Elaine Eckenroth and her partner Len of Womelsdorf, PA; and Denise Diffenderfer-Stanilla and her husband Mike of Lebanon, PA. She is also survived by an aunt and uncle and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be held Thursday, June 22 at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach St., Leesport. Burial will follow in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Fleetwood. A viewing will be held Wednesday, June 21, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, and Thursday, June 22 from 10:00 to 11:00 am in the funeral home.

Special thanks to the staff at Penn State Health St. Joseph's Medical Center and Temple University Hospital’s Respiratory ICU for their care of Michelle during her battle with chronic beryllium disease, a fatal lung condition brought on from exposure to the metal beryllium. Michelle's family urges anyone who has lived near the Tuckerton Road beryllium processing plant to research the condition and be aware of the early symptoms.
