Obituary for Norman L. Straus
Norman L. Straus, 90, of Bern Twp., passed away in the early morning hours Sunday, July 2, 2017, of natural causes in Berks Heim, where he was a guest for 3 weeks.
He was the husband of Pauline F. (nee’ Borrell) Straus.
Born August 22, 1926, in Centre Twp., Berks Co., he was a son of the late Charles S. & Mary (nee’ Berger) Straus.
The owner and operator of Norman Straus Contracting, he was a member of Bern Evangelical Lutheran Church; a veteran WWII having served in the US Navy on board the USS Boxer Air Craft Carrier; a member of Vaux Lodge #406 F&AM; a member of the Reading Consistory; and a member of the Leesport Fire Co., and the Goodwill Beneficial Assn., Hyde Park.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Michael L. Straus, husband of Kathy, Bern Twp., Christine L. wife of Richard Gruber, Bern Twp., and Debra L. wife of Wayne Kennedy, Columbia; his grandchildren: Aaron & Austin Kennedy, and Rebecca Straus; and by a great-granddaughter: Emma Kennedy.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 7, 2017, at 11 AM from Bern Evangelical Lutheran Church, 820 W. Leesport Rd., Leesport, PA 19533. Burial will follow in Bern Cemetery. Relatives and friends may greet the family (no viewing) Friday from 10 AM until time of service at the church.
