Ernestine R.  Lied
Ernestine R. Lied, 91, formerly of Shoemakersville and Reading, passed away on August 1, 2017 in the Berks Heim.
Born in Pine Grove, she was the daughter of the late Clayton D. and Fannie P. (Minnich) Reber. Ernestine was a 1943 graduate of the former Perry High School and a 1947 graduate of The Reading Hospital School of Nursing. She worked for twenty-nine years for the Visiting Nurse Association, retiring at the age of 65. She also worked with the Migrant Workers Program, Headstart Program, and patient care at local hospital. Ernestine last worked part-time for Topton Lutheran Volunteer Home Care for several years. She was a member of Wyomissing Church of the Brethren. Ernestine was also a member and former treasurer of the Parkinson's Support Group of Berks County. She was a creative person and enjoyed sewing, quilting, water and other kinds of painting, and making jewelry and dolls.
Ernestine is survived by two sons: Leonard Lied, El Paso, Texas; and J. Scott Lied, and his wife Carol (Moyer) Lied, Laureldale; two grandsons: Brian Lied, and his wife Alexandra; and Steven Lied, and his wife Amy; and great-granddaughter: Fiona. She is also survived by one sister: Shirley (Reber), wife of Robert Yoder, Hamburg; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers: Clarence and Lee Reber; two sisters: Thelma (Reber) Kintzel and Miriam Reber; and her companion: Joseph Cichocki.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am from Mohrsville Church of the Brethren, 1542 Shoey Road, Mohrsville. A visitation with the family and reception will follow the service in the church's fellowship hall. Burial will be private in Viewpoint Cemetery, Centre Twp. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Wyomissing Church of the Brethren, 2200 State Hill Road, Wyomissing, PA 19610; Berks County Parkinsons Support Group, c/o Ralph Blatt, 204 Columbia Avenue, Reading, PA 19605; or Animal Rescue League, P.O.
