Obituary for Maryann Wood (Stock)
Maryann Wood, 82, formerly of Shartlesville, passed away in the Reading Hospital on Monday, September 18, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Bernard R. Wood, Sr., who died October 31, 1998.
Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late William and Virginia (Werner) Stock. Maryann worked in various knitting mills in the area. She then worked for R.M. Palmer Company; and last worked in the duplicating department at the Reading Hospital and Medical Center. Maryann enjoyed crocheting, sewing, walking and loved to dance. She especially looked forward to family gatherings and spending time with her family.
Maryann is survived by five daughters: Karen M. (Wood), wife of Kenneth Arters, Exeter; Holly A. (Wood), widow of Thomas Bucks, Mt. Penn; Catherine M. (Wood), wife of Frank Huyard, Mohrsville, who was also her caregiver; and twins: Patricia A. (Wood) Balthaser, companion of Thomas Baker, West Lawn; and Pamela A. (Wood), wife of Timothy O'Boyle, Shoemakersville; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and her two close nieces: Peggy Koch and Susan Stouch. She is also survived by her siblings: Billy, Dorothy, and Marquerite; and her companion: Ray Miller. Maryann was predeceased by her son: Bernard R. Wood, Jr., who died May 12, 2015; granddaughter; Courtney Brown; and nine siblings.
Maryann's family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff at Reading Hospital R-3 and Compassus Hospice.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Alzheimer's Association, Delaware Valley Chapter, 399 Market Street, Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
