Obituary for Ethel M. Madeira

Ethel M. Madeira, 85, of Muhlenberg Twp., died Tuesday, September 26, 2017 in Reading Hospital and Medical Center, West Reading. She was the wife of the late Harold G. Madeira, died June 24, 2016.
Born in Shoemakersville, she was the daughter of the late Adam S. and Edith C. (Houck) Klee. She graduated from Perry High School in 1949, later graduating from Reading Hospital School of Nursing in 1952. She returned to Reading Hospital School of Nursing to become a nurse anesthetist graduating in 1970. Ethel was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Shoemakersville. After graduating from school, she worked at the Hamburg Tuberculosis Sanatorium until 1955, the worked as a registered nurse at Reading Hospital for 20 years retiring in 1990. She also worked as an industrial nurse for Carpenter Steel, Parish, Dana from 1961-1968. She was a member of Reading Hospital Alumni Association, Reading Chapter No. 251 Order of Eastern Star, Blandon Lioness Club, and Blandon Senior Citizens.
Ethel is survived by a son: David L. Madeira, Muhlenberg Twp.; a daughter: Deborah A. (Madeira) wife of Robert J. Dillane, Hershey; two granddaughters: Erin and Kristen; and her canine companions: Misty and Ella.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery, Shoemakersville.
