Obituary for Esther Hartman

Esther Hartman, 97, of Tilden Twp., died Tuesday, October 3, 2017 in her residence. She was the wife of the late Arlan L. Hartman, who died December 7, 2008
Born in Tilden Twp., she was the daughter of the late Joseph D. and Katie M. (Long) Bauer. She was a member of First United Church of Christ, Hamburg. She was a member of Shartlesville Senior Citizens and a former member of Hamburg Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, and Ladies Association Hamburg Council No. 1 Order of Independent Americans. She always enjoyed cleaning and was known to run the vacuum everyday. Esther worked for 32 years as a sewing machine operator at Wright's Knitting Mills in Hamburg, retiring in 1981.
Esther is survived by a son: Richard A. husband of Marilyn D. (Forry) Hartman, Shoemakersville; three daughters: Evelyn M. (Hartman) widow of Wayne C. Epting, Tilden Twp., Jane E. (Hartman) wife of Donald H. Francis, Hamburg, and Regina F. (Hartman) wife of Jack D. Lee, Yakima, Washington; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister-in-law: Margaret Bauer, Hamburg. Esther was predeceased by three brothers: Joseph and Paul Bauer, and John Hollenbach; and a sister: Florence (Bauer) Bigg.
Services will be held Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 11:00 am from First Reformed United Church of Christ, 76 S. 3rd Street Hamburg, PA 19526. Burial will follow in Zion's Cemetery, Perry Twp. A viewing will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 am in the church. Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., Hamburg is in charge of arrangements.
