Donald M.  Dissinger
Donald M. Dissinger, 91, formerly of Perry Twp., died Thursday, October 12, 2017 in his residence. He was the husband of Margie F. (James) Dissinger. They were married July 10, 1948 and celebrated 69 years of marriage.
Born in Auburn, Schuylkill County, he was the son of the late Chester and Jennie M. (Reppert) Dissinger. He graduated from Perry High School in 1948. Donald was a U.S. Army Veteran during WWII and participated in the Battle of the Bulge. He worked as a shipping supervisor at Glen Gery Brick, Shoemakersville for 45 years retiring on June 1, 1991. Donald was a member of Central Berks Lions Club, a life member of Disabled American Veterans, Hamburg Game Association, Perry Game Association, Strausstown Gun Club, Life member of Shoemakersville Fire Company, and the NRA. He was also a member of Behler Hein Post No. 637 American Legion, Hamburg, and Wagner Good Post No. 216 VFW, Hamburg. He was a well-known bowler. Donald was always known as “Pappy.” He always enjoyed trips to Tioga County and Potter County; and enjoyed time at Old Hickory Hunting Club, Lycoming County.
Surviving in addition to his wife are four sons: Steven D. husband of Vicki (Mount) Dissinger, Upper Bern Twp., Allen E. husband of Connie (Shollenberger) Dissinger, Perry Twp., Gregory J. husband of Cindy (Berk) Dissinger, Albany Twp., and Kevin J. husband of Michele (Emerich) Dissinger, Perry Twp.; two daughters: Shirley M. (Dissinger) wife of Gregory Koch, Tilden Twp., and Wendy K. (Dissinger) wife of Larry Faust, Windsor Twp.; ten grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters: Dorothy (Dissinger) Bausher, Centre Twp., and Christine (Dissinger) Kline, Centre Twp. He was predeceased by four brothers: Chester, Kenneth, Richard, and Floyd.
Services will be held Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at 1:30 pm from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street Hamburg (Off-Street Parking in Rear). Burial will follow in St. John’s (Gernant’s) Cemetery, Ontelaunee Twp. Viewings will be held in the funeral home on Monday, October 16, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and Tuesday from 12:30 to 1:30 pm.
