Martha A.  Glavin (Yorkski)
Martha A. Glavin, 66, of Womelsdorf and formerly of Buxton, Maine, passed away on January 17, 2017 in the Reading Hospital.
Born in Schuylkill Haven, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Mary (Marhon) Yorski. She was a graduate of Blue Mountain High School. Martha had a house cleaning service. Her passion was picking winter berries and selling them to various florists. Martha was a very Godly woman. She was a very loving and giving person; always putting others before herself and would take the time to help a stranger or anyone in need. Martha was born to be a mother and grandmother. She was an artist and enjoyed singing, gardening, baking, crafts and redecorating.
Martha is survived by her children: Lara L. Layser, partner of Dennis Boyle, New Ringgold; Mary T. Sweinhart, Hegins; Rosemary I. Assemes, wife of Mathew J. Assemes, Shillington; Katrina M. Glavin, Womelsdorf and with whom Martha resided; Nathaniel S. Glavin, in Maine; Isaiah B. Glavin, and his wife Amanda, Gorham, Maine; and Nehemiah T. Glavin, fiance of Kellie Esty, Saco, Maine; and nine grandchildren: Charles and Robert Sweinhart; Aiden and Ian Assemes; Simon and Katayanna Glavin; Alaina Althouse; and Annelise and Teddy Owens; and a tenth grandchild on the way. Martha is also survived by four sisters: Mary Ann and Judy, both of Pottsville; Nancy Jean, Orwigsburg; and Anna Marie, Schuylkill Haven. She was also an "honorary" mother to: Thomas P. Ward, Portland, Maine; and Mary Burke Kelsey, in Florida. Martha was predeceased by four brothers: Stephen, Michael, Johnathan, and Nicholas.
Services will be held on Monday at 11:00 am from Christ Evangelical Free Church, 8477 Route 183, Bethel, PA 19507. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Pottsville. A viewing will be held in the church Monday 10:00 to 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street, Hamburg, PA 19526 to assist the family with final expenses.
