Obituary for Betty L. Seidel

Betty L. Seidel, 91, formerly of Lenhartsville, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2017 in Reading Hospital and Medical Center, West Reading.
Born in Lenhartsville, she was the daughter of the late William F. and Sarah W. (Reichert) Seidel. She graduated from Hamburg High School in 1943. Betty was a member of St. Paul’s (Smoke) Church, Windsor Twp. At church, she served on church council, taught adult Sunday school, and had served as a communicator and extra officer of the Lutheran Brotherhood Fraternal Organization. She was office manager of Suburban Propane Gas Corporation, Lenhartsville for 45 years retiring in 1991. She was a former member of Women of ELCA, and held offices including coordinator of East Berks District of NE Pennsylvania Women of ELCA. She was also a former member of Ladies Auxiliary of Union Fire Co., No. 1 of Hamburg, Ladies Auxiliary of Order of Independent Americans, Hamburg, and Hamburg Senior Citizens. She was a life member of Virginville Grange. Betty loved to travel across the world, having visited Ireland, China, and The Holy Lands to name a few. She also enjoyed spending time with her family.
Betty is survived by her nieces and nephews: Gary Auman, Richard Auman, Clair Auman, Karen (Seidel) Bartley, Rebecca (Seidel) Heffner, and Ken Seidel; several great and great-great nieces and nephews; and a brother: William W. husband of Elizabeth A. “Betty” (Kemp) Seidel, Hamburg. She was predeceased by a sister: Dorothy V. (Seidel) Auman.
Services will be held Thursday, July 27, 2017 at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street Hamburg (off-street parking in rear). Burial will follow in St. Paul’s (Smoke) Cemetery, Windsor Twp. A viewing will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 am in the funeral home.
